| Writers' Conference returns to Oxnard |

OXNARD — Following a successful debut last October, the Southern California Writers' Conference has announced that it
will return to Oxnard to hold its second annual sister event north of Los Angeles.
Now entering its 18th year in San Diego, the SCWC is recognized as one of the premier writers' conferences in the
country, having facilitated nearly $3 million worth of book and screen deals. SCWC Executive Director Michael Steven
Gregory attributes the
success of the conferences to their being founded and run by accomplished, working authors of fiction, nonfiction and
screen, devoted to giving back to the writing community.
The overwhelmingly positive reception of the first Oxnard event was not a surprise to Gregory. "Emerging writers too often work in
isolation, devoid of any legitimate opportunity to get the kind of authoritative feedback necessary to prepare their
work for professional consideration. That's where the SCWC comes in, to troubleshoot manuscripts and empower writers
with the sense of community, support, and know-how vital to succeeding in today's increasingly difficult publishing world. Too
many writing conferences are more about the celebrity speakers and panelists. Ours is about the conferees, about
their work, and about their aspirations to commercially communicate their visions via the written word."
The staff and schedule for the next conference will be announced
beginning in April. For more information call (619) 233-4651, or visit the SCWC Web site to request a free brochure.
