SAN DIEGO—Alliant International University has announced the appointment of writer-director Michael Steven Gregory as its first "Hitchcock Fellow" Filmmaker In Residence. The position was created to expand the curriculum of AIU's international student base in addressing social issues through film and digital media. Gregory, President of San Diego-based Random Cove, LLC, a producer of independent film, will spearhead the development of a unique filmmaker's program to be implemented at AIU's Scripps Ranch campus through the College of Arts and Sciences.

Dr. Mustafah Dhada, Vice-Provost of Undergraduate Studies, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, and Dean of the School of Social and Policy Studies, says of the selection of Gregory, “Our mission is to suffuse the process of learning with the soul of creativity. Michael Gregory shares our passion and we are honored to have him lead our endeavors in visual communications. His dedication and success in both written and visual media is essential to the creation of this program.”

On Sunday, March 9th, at the conclusion of BestFest's "48 Hours of Madness" school team competition, being hosted by AIU's Scripps Ranch campus (press release), Gregory will unveil details of AIU's independent filmmaking summer-intensive program. Over 150 teachers and students from San Diego area colleges and high schools are expected to be in attendance.
