San Diego conference wraps
with awards and accolades

Along with a capacity crowd, the 21st Annual Southern California Writers' Conference *San Diego drew to a close this past Presidents' Day Weekend with participants travelling in from as far away as Australia, Ireland and Russia. As is often the case, workshop leaders, agents and editors have all reported that the level of quality material passing through the SCWC is inordinately high. Those conferees whose work was cited for special recognition...

And just a sampling of feedback we've received:

"Excellent conference, you continue to exceed Santa Barbara's conference for sheer relevancy to writers! BRAVO! The variety of working writers who "tell it like it is" is invaluable" . . .

"Crawling out of my cave for the first time, I felt validated, inspired and welcomed into a community of writers willing to share their craft. I also left with a surprising reception and interest in my novel by several agents, workshop leaders and numerous attendees" . . .

"The 'loosey goosy' format fits my personality and the "not so sucky" stuff completely took the pressure off. Thanks. I can not imagine how depressed and frustrated I would have felt if I had attended a more formal conference and then sat through another panel of agents (they're fun, huh?)" . . .

"Thank you for a wonderful conference and great couple of days in San Diego" . . .

"I particularly enjoyed Michele Scott on "Mystery Series," the Crime Scene folks and Mr. Hutchings' Press Release info. Alan Russell was stellar as usual with his read and critique" . . .

"The conference was uplifting and beneficial. I valued all the info I received from the agents and group leaders" . . .

"The read and critiques are immensely valuable for lots of reason but primarily for giving me a feeling of 'where to go to next'" . . .

"Far beyond my expectations. Sign me up for next year now!"

. . . Independent takes on our San Diego conference can be had at the blogs of author/evening speaker/pinch-hitting workshop leader Alexandra Sokoloff; mild-mannered, power-hitting prose author/workshop leader Robert Gregory Browne; and newly initiated SCWCer Jeremy James.

Dates and location of our Los Angeles event in September will be announced soon. For more information, visit WritersConference.com or phone (619) 303-8185.
