| Bootcamp stays on clock with "Tick-Tock" |
|
SAN DIEGO—Two dozen students from across the country participated in the second Indie Filmmaker's Bootcamp (IFB), this
year hosted by The Winston School in the beach community of Del Mar, CA. The total immersion program in which
aspiring filmmakers make a movie – from concept through execution – under the guidance of working professionals
resulted in Tick-Tock, written by award-winning writer-producer Larry Brody and directed by Michael Steven
Gregory.
Geared to fully exploit the idealic coastal terrain, Tick-Tock was broadly conceptualized
during the first day of the IFB by its participants, before being handed over to the WGA screenwriter who then had
24 hours to craft the script. Following a brief pre-production period, the film was shot during two 16-hour days
before moving into post-production.
A joint effort by the American Academy of Arts and Random Cove, filmmakers mentoring this year's IFB's students included
producers Stan Foster and Ross Kallen, director of photography Peter Kreklow, assistant director
Hope R. Goodwin, casting director Stanzi Stokes, screenwriter Larry Brody, gaffer Nick Berry, key grip James Teiper, art
director Michael Scaglione, composer Michael Page, editor John Rosenberg, former Disney/Buena Vista executive Cindy Tollin,
and distribution & marketing expert Andy Friedenberg.
Among those providing sponsorship and support for IFB#2: Apple, Final Draft, FrameForge 3D Studio, Panasonic, Production
Pro Budget, Visual Arts Foundation, and The Winston School.
