| "Future of Storytelling" event inspires Hollywood awareness |
|
In partnership with the Center for Conscious Creativity, the Southern California Writers' Conference's "Storytelling and the
Future of Content" event in Los Angeles proved as inspiring as it was informative. According to moderator and Institute of
Noetic Sciences president James O'Dea:
"The conference was a gathering of creative spirits exploring how science, consciousness and spirituality are more than
fashionable themes to work with, they may spur a deeper cultural shift and collective transformation than we suspect. There
was a sense that our imagination may contain the mythic and narrative power to draw the human story to its next
evolutionary level and so there was a charge and an air of magnified purpose... one in which the artist and writer begins
to understand just how important their work is in the scale of things. Such gatherings remind us our tribe is growing and
that the best stories are just about to come your way!"
With over 70 Hollywood, publishing, new media and consciousness authorities addressing the future of content for
attendees, ranging from Participant Productions’ Chris Adams, actor/director LeVar Burton, KPFK radio show host Lisa Garr
to What the #$*! Do We (K)now!? writer-director Mark Vicente, comic book writer and novelist Greg Rucka, The
Celestine Prophecy author/screenwriter James Redfield, children's writer Kerry Madden and video game author Aaron Conners,
the weekend resulted in a purposeful awakening for many.
In a piece appearing in the November issue of Yogi Times titled "Visions of a Conscious Hollywood,"
conferee Eva Askay admits to coming to the conference because of a gut feeling. “My whole life is based on intuition and
whenever I follow my inner voice, I always benefit from it.” And as the article's writer Robin Palmer points out,
"Hollywood may be slow to jump on the consciousness bandwagon, but they are indeed following."
